CS2 Update: Ancient Gets Night Version and Map Tweaks – How It Changes Tactical Logic

On August 14, 2025, Valve updated Ancient and Shoots. Most notably, a night version of Ancient is now live in Casual, Deathmatch, and Retakes. Competitive play still uses the day version, for now. Shader adjustments have also been applied: increased contrast on A-site, reduced brightness on mid sand textures, and new \”wet\” surfaces with shadow layering.

Gameplay-wise: the Temple position on A-site no longer gives direct A‑Main vision. This removes the classic AWP anchor angle from CT-side hold.
